In the story Alienware's Star Wars PCs, there is a link to the product featured in the story. This link is

The "source" GET variable appears to be the identifier of a participant in an Alienware pay-per-referral program.

Commentary

The two possibilities are that Slashdot entered the "source" variable themselves, or that the submitter did it as a way to earn referral points for himself. The latter is more likely. In either case, this is a matter of poor editing. Either Taco is making ever-bolder Slashvertisements, or he is a fool for letting such a blatant advertisement make it to the front page.
